This article is a joke right?
The infotainment systems is possibly the worst and most frustrating system I've ever encountered - even compared to the older Landrovers and Toyotas. If you live in the UK where most services think you are in the Netherlands then it's worse.
Google maps is not proper Google maps, Spotify is not proper Spotify, TuneIn gets me part of the way but no BBC - well it changes. Try and FFW/RWD on any of these apps and it either fails or you end up having to stop the car in case you crash it.
The implementation of your own music from an SSD looks like an old iTunes media player run on a home network. It is laughable.
The voice "recognition" would be truly remarkable in the 90s on a Nokia for a bit of a toy but if anyone considers Tesla voice commands to be anything more practical than opening up the glovebox then they've not really experienced Android Auto / CarPlay. Or maybe Tesla only tests based on a Californian US accent.
There is no integration - I can't link any of my Google accounts which means that I have to work out maps and driving detail on my phone and send it to the car (this is deemed a feature
) where the "Tesla Google Maps" ignores any routing. It doesn't even have the intelligence to work out the direction you are going in when trying to find it's own chargerpoints.
It is so unremarkable that I could write a book on it's flaws - I chuckle when I hear write-ups about Tesla software and Over the Air updates......
In comparison, my wife has a 3 year old Audi - it connects through wireless Android Auto - I tell it where I want to go and it recognises my voice (and the UK nuances), I can listen to BBC Sounds, YouTube Music and proper Spotify with all my lists. I can plug in a thumb drive and it will render the album art and put album, songs, and playlists using a proper user interface. It's a breath of fresh air.
OK - my wife's Audi can't produce a fart sound but it didn't cost £54K
No - please do not tell the world that Tesla's software is superior..........in any way, shape of form.....
Since Tesla are now opening up their charging networks - this is it for me. Yes, it is a big deal when you use your car a lot
