I’m still a reservation holder for a CT. Configured a fully loaded one for $77k back when it was announced. Sadly, the reality of the CT has fallen so short of the specs / price that there’s no way I can or would get one at this point. I understand the world has changed a lot since the announcement but that doesn’t change the fact that the CT is not the game changer once thought.
My hope is that it is in the Model S v1.0 stage at this point. That is, it will rapidly evolve.
There are some features that are pretty ballsy- 4 wheel steering, steer by wire, 48v & 800v architecture the SS construction as some examples. Seems like most of those aren’t unique to Tesla. Still, they are mainstream now and it will be cool to see them trickle down to other models. Is the truck actually an exoskeleton? I hope that construction method proves to be useful in future cars - how about a Cyber X? Or the next, smaller commuter car?
I’m glad it is selling to happy customers. If this truck doesn’t do well it will reflect directly on Elon. All his antics outside of tesla can be easily ignored as long as the company is doing well.
Once again I am glad I bought my Y three+ years ago .

Agreed. I'm hopeful that some of things trickle down to other vehicles, especially 48v and steer by wire, but I'm kinda thinking that the Cybertruck is not going to be successful. I think the only way they could save it would be to come out with some big software updates to address things like the range and the towing capability.

One video I watched outlined how poorly the UI was for the towing specifically. There is almost no information on the load or the status of the vehicle. Hell, the display shows your truck being followed very closely by a tractor trailer instead of something more realistic. Of course, these things can be fixed quickly, so maybe the CT will make it.

If I HAD to purchase a truck right now and had the ability to get any one on the market, I would probably go with a Rivian RT1. I think the vehicle is solid even if the software sucks.
