Discuss: Tesla to Replace Wood Trim on Model 3 With Non-woven Fabric

I'm glad it's being replaced. I didn't like the look of it. I bought a plastic fake carbon fiber cover for it. I think that cover I bought might be a hazard if the air bags deploy so I might take it off soon.

I always thought the 'wood' trim in the M3 was plastic, but this article implies it is wood. Could someone please clarify?
It's actually wood veneer, which is a very thin slice of wood that is then glued on to a piece of black plastic. It's real wood, but very thin. High-end furniture also uses veneer, which is then put on top of the hard wood. It allows the manufacturer to achieve the perfect wood grain/texture they're looking for in the finished piece.
