I look forward to seeing more of this v12.
It occurs to me that as FSD gets better at driving it will probably need to also get better in communicating what its intentions are. They've already added this with the 'wall' and 'creeping for visibility' but maybe some audio feedback would help. Then there's a balance between feedback and TOO MUCH feedback. Of course when it is finished no feedback will be necessary as we'll be watching something on the screen.

The things that I noticed was the smooth turning. When I use FSD at stop signs the turning is always jerky and off-putting. v12 looks sooo much better!

My goal for FSD is to be more human like. Some things that bug me in the v11 FSD are:
  • Don't drive in the middle of the road when you can't find a lane marker. Just because there isn't a lane marker in subdivision streets doesn't mean there isn't a lane.
  • Give parked cars more leeway. v11 hugs parked cars way too close, especially if there is plenty of room and no on-going traffic. It needs to swing wide so that we don't have to worry about someone opening a door or a kid jumping out from in front of the car.
  • When you make a decision stick with it. So many times I'm halfway through turning a corner and the car suddenly decides that there is a better way and jerks the steering wheel around. Or it just stops when it sees cars coming down the road. Yes, there are cars coming - get out of the way!
