Plain English translation of FSD 11.4.5 notes (by GPT-4):

We've made the system better at quickly changing lanes without going off course. This was achieved by getting a better understanding of the cars in the target lane, which helps the system to be more decisive when choosing a gap to merge into.

We've also made the system more consistent when navigating around fixed obstacles. Changes in direction are now smoother because the system adjusts speed more comfortably.

The system is now better at handling situations where there's an oncoming car on a narrow, unmarked road. It does this by predicting the oncoming car's path more accurately and giving it enough space to pass before re-centering on the road.

We've increased the accuracy of our Occupancy Flow prediction, which predicts the movement of obstacles, by 8%.

We're making more use of our new tool for automatically labeling objects in our NonVRU (Non-Vulnerable Road Users) detection model. This has improved our ability to detect and precisely map the shape of far away vehicles, big trucks, trailers, and unusual cars.

We've improved how the system controls around VRUs (Vulnerable Road Users - such as pedestrians and cyclists) by carefully navigating around objects it's not completely sure about, which could be in the car's path.

We're better at dealing with VRUs near crosswalks by more accurately predicting their future actions. We've done this by using more motion data to understand how crosswalks and VRUs interact.

We've improved the car's behavior around VRUs by refining how we understand their motion and by using more available information to determine if they are likely to cross the car's path.

Finally, we've improved how quickly our Automatic Emergency Braking system responds to cars that suddenly cut in front of us, or when there are vehicles behind us while reversing.

I am looking forward to updates to several areas currently experienced with V11.4.4.

1. Random reduction of speed in many situations where the blue path is very clear and open.

2. Lack of confidence passing a car who slowly changes lanes to the left, or is 99% in the left turn lane, where Tesla stops in it's own lane. But cars doing the same to the right, Tesla continues to confidently shift in it's lane and continues on.

3. Tesla makes a left turn, then dramatically reduces speed, before picking up speed again, when there is no other car in the lane ahead.

4. Random right turn signals on some of the slightest curves to the right, or when passing the entrance to a left turn lane while staying in it's own lane.

5. Tesla accelerates when light turns green, but reduces acceleration mid intersection, then continues acceleration.

In most of these issues, it's just a lack of confidence or what they call 'excessive conservatism', where I have to give acceleration to continue on and not impede traffic.

I would also like to see the ability to offer a turn signal at a corner, and FSD will make that turn, without having to manually set a navigation point to do so. For example, if in the far right lane, activating the turn signal should indicate that I want to turn right at the approaching intersection. It should also be able to move into the turn lane with the signal and make the turn, without navigation.
