Hello, 1st Post
I have tried to update my software twice, currently to 2024.33.35. I must use my iPhone hotspot because I do not have wi-fi in my condominium garage.
I do have Premium Connectivity.
My iPhone hotspot speeds are 500-800 mb/sec.
The car does connect to my hotspot, but I am seeing speeds of 0-600 kb/s. on the download screen. 2 hours 30 minutes for .5 of the download. I stopped the attempt.
I have the "Maximize Compatibility" on to cover both bands and no effect when I deselect the setting.
Also, I tried to connect with the USB in the glove box. No difference.
More, the Wi-Fi connection drops; some time it reconnects on its own, but most the time I have to re-enter the password.
I have done the usual: forget network, restart phone, restart the car's screen
What am I doing wrong? Quite frustrating.
Thanks in advance

Christopher

Before getting a WiFi extender, I used my phone’s hotspot, but it had the same issue.

Even with the garage WiFi, it’s not much faster, just the convenience of not waiting in the car.

Using hotspot while driving or stuck in traffic, or parking near the workplace’s WiFi signal, also worked.

I have a 2023 M3, and I suspect the modem chip is weak or maybe it’s a soft modem. I’ve never seen it download fast. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Thank you Acmem for you insite. I am glad I am not unique.
I was out last night and kept my hotspot connected, and I did get marginally better performance.
I wonder if there is a compatibility issue with Premium Connectivity and a mobile hotspot throttling speed.
I got about 3mb/sec, a long way from 500-800, but literally 1000 times better.
the good news is I did eventually download most of the the software. I will go out today and finish.
I wonder if there is a way to download the program to a USB storage device and then transfer it to the car.
Best,
Christopher
