The bug that was causing the amount charged in a given session to be shown in kilometers instead of miles has been fixed in this release.

Support for bringing disconnected Powerwalls back on Wi-Fi

In this app update, Tesla has added a lot more code to support the Robotaxi network, according to a decompile of the app by @Tesla_App_iOS on X.

Although the UI is not yet accessible to non-employees, Tesla has added more functionality for a variety of Robotaxi functions, such as adjusting and confirming your pickup location, displaying your ETA, and managing your trip — such as adding or removing a destination.

The app decompile also reveals the code name for the Cybercab, which is Alicorn. The name Alicorn appears to come from the mythological creature, a winged unicorn, which is part Unicorn and part Pegasus. Given the Cybercab’s doors, it’s a well-suited name.

This app update also confirms that Tesla’s Robotaxi functionality will be part of the main Tesla app instead of a dedicated Robotaxi app. That means users will be able to manage their vehicles, solar energy, power backup, and Robotaxi all in a single app.

Some code in this Tesla app update also hints at a potential safety driver with keys such as alicorn_button_title_call_driver and alicorn_modal_subtitle_call_driver.

It’s not clear whether this refers to safety drivers in Tesla-owned Robotaxis or future customer-owned vehicles. However, given that Tesla has already said they won’t allow customers to add their vehicles to the Robotaxi network until 2026, this could be referring to Tesla’s own Robotaxi vehicles, which will be Model Ys initially.

Why would Tesla use safety drivers? They could use them when the network kicks off until they gain more confidence in the fleet’s abilities, or they could also use them when expanding to additional streets or towns that haven’t been validated.

Tesla is starting to roll out dynamic Supercharger pricing, so that a Supercharger's pricing is not determined by the time of day, but instead, it's dependent on current usage.

This app update rolls out UI changes that allow for the new pricing structure. The chart for Supercharging is now slightly different with the Y-axis now showing price and historical usage. Previously, and at Supercharger that don't yet support this new price structure, the price groups parts of the day, such as peak time being the most expensive.

Tesla now shows wether a Supercharger's price is a 'Low Price' or a 'High Price,' depending on the current level compared to historical usage. This new pricing is currently only available at 10 Supercharger worldwide, as Tesla tests it before adopting it for all Superchargers.

Tesla released Actually Smart Summon in September 2024. Although the feature is a great improvement over the previous Smart Summon version, it does require you to hold down the ‘Come to Me’ button while the vehicle is moving.

Tesla previously stated that a future update would make holding down the button optional, much like Smart Summon.

Thanks to a new phrase in this app update, it looks like Tesla is getting ready to release this improvement to A.S.S. Like the previous summon iteration, the ability not to have to hold down the button is expected to be optional and something the owner needs to enable explicitly.

Tesla has shown off several videos teasing the Robotaxi network and its app. In one of the recent videos, Tesla shows off an iPhone’s lock screen, which includes a Live Activity notification for the Robotaxi.

If you’re not familiar with Apple’s Live Activities, they allow a notification to include additional information and, more importantly, be automatically updated in the background so that it displays current information, such as ETAs.

Live Activities will likely be used for the Robotaxi network, as Tesla has already shown, so that you can view your ETA on your phone’s lock screen without having to open the Tesla app.

However, we expect it to also be used for other Tesla features that rely on real-time information, such as Supercharger and Roadside Assistance. In the previous app update, Tesla added the ability to view Supercharger cost in a real-time manner in the Tesla app, so this could be something that’s displayed on the Live Activity as well.

Tesla has improved Service related features such as the new visualization to precisely report Noise & Vibration issues.

The new walk-through allows you to tap any area in the vehicle to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. After you select the area of concern, you can then select whether the noise is a rattle, creak or something else.

This improvement makes it easier for customers to accurately show where the noise is coming from, without having to describe it in words, which would be less precise.

Tesla continues to make improvements to Service, making it easier and quicker for customers to report issues, while also making it easier for technicians to diagnose the problem.

To see the new visualization, go to Service > Request Service > Noise & Vibration in the Tesla app.

Under Menu > Charging, Tesla now shows a button to Rate the Supercharging session in addition to the previous Details button.

When diving into a Supercharging session (right photo), Tesla has moved the feedback button to the top and changed the name from Feedback to Rate Session.

Each of these buttons let you rate the Supercharging session from 1 to 5 starts and let you pick applicable reasons why the session was great or poor -- which is the same as previous releases.

While you're actively charging your vehicle at a Supercharger, the Tesla app will now display your current cost in real-time.

This is in addition the current power in kW, miles or km charging per hour and total energy added during the session that was already displayed in the app.

Tesla is now showing users information about nearby Superchargers. When you’re near a Supercharger, Tesla will now highlight it at the top of the Tesla app, letting you report issues or view site information.

This could be useful when a driver is trying to locate a Supercharger or simply needs to report an issue.

It appears that Tesla’s Robotaxi network will utilize the existing Tesla app rather than relying on a dedicated Robotaxi-specific app. New code found in this update suggests that owners will be able to switch between ‘Fleet Mode’ and ‘Owner Mode,’ allowing them to choose whether their vehicle joins the autonomous taxi network or is reserved for personal use.

Tesla’s upcoming child detection feature will let the vehicle automatically turn on its climate system if it detects that a child has been left alone in the vehicle. Tesla is also introducing other safeguards, such as sending notifications to the owner and calling emergency services if needed.

Tesla is now beginning to integrate this into the Tesla app, according to a tear-down of this update by Tesla_App_iOS. If a child is left in the vehicle, the owner won’t be allowed to turn off or change climate settings.

Tesla is also preventing other things, such as installing software updates, while a child is detected alone in the vehicle.
