Tesla has updated the name and description of "Passive Authentication" in the app to "Phone Key." This feature lets you enable or disable the auto locking/unlocking and starting of the vehicle when your phone is near by.

The updated name better describes the feature that can be used by owners who live in a location where their phone may be close enough to their vehicle that may allow someone to unlock or start their car. This feature can also be used if you plan to keep your phone locked in your vehicle, but want to prevent it from being able to unlock or start your vehicle.

Through server-side changes Tesla has updated the Energy graphs for Tesla solar.

The y-axis used to remain constant at 28 kW, making it easier to compare usage across various components. However, it also caused some graphs to be harder to read since they could appear much smaller on the screen if the usage was much less than the maximum y-value.

With this remote change, Tesla has updated the y-axis to once again be based on the maximum value in the graph, leading to bigger, easier to read graphs.

Tesla now also shows your Tesla vehicle in the Energy flow section at the bottom of the Energy section. This will display the amount of energy consumed by your vehicle, regardless if the source of the energy was from solar, Powerwall or the grid.

Editor's Note: The updated energy graphs in the Energy section are now easier to read and understand.

They also feature an Energy Flow table at the bottom that displays how energy has been imported and exported for each system component.

The buttons to display or hide each component's graph have been moved to the bottom in the Energy Flow section.

The Impact section of the app remains unchanged in this update, however, it may only be a matter of time before that section is updated as well.

This update adds a reference to Apple's AirPlay technology that allows audio and video streaming from an Apple device to supported hardware such as a TV.

It appears Tesla is starting to implement AirPlay to allow higher quality streaming of audio and potentially video content to your vehicle according to findings from Tesla_App_iOS.

This isn't the first reference to AirPlay from Tesla. Last year Elon Musk said that he would discuss with Tesla engineers the possibility of added AirPlay support for better sound quality.

The app icon has been updated with this release. The new logo (right) is now a lighter shade of red and features a smaller Tesla logo.

You can now change or update a Wall Connector's schedule to restrict charging to a specific time window directly through the Tesla app. You no longer need to connect to the Wall Connector directly to change the schedule or other Wall Connector options.

The Reset Tesla Profile screen has received a UI update. It now also provides a description of what your Tesla Profile does.

You may want to reset your Tesla Profile if certain settings are not being saved or recalled correctly. Resetting your profile will not erase your preferences in your vehicle, but simply delete the version the remotely stored preferences.

The Quick Links section in the Service and Roadside sections of the app have been updated. Additional links are now included that may be relevant for the service request or roadside assistance being requested.

Tesla includes links to support, their vehicle maintenance document, and video tutorials.

When creating a new request for Tesla service, Tesla now displays a link to their existing vehicle maintenance document under 'Quick Links'.

The document loads in the browser and includes information on the cabin filter, tire rotating, brake fluid and more.

Tesla has updated its referral program with new incentives and rewards, as well as a referral limit.

When you open the app, Tesla will now highlight the new referral awards for the Model 3 and Model Y, which have increased to 10,000 credits for referrals. Buyers will now receive $500 off and 3 months of FSD.

Minor fixes and improvements.

The loot box section of the app has been updated. The logo has been changed to a simple cube instead of a treasure chest.

The home tab of the loot box has also been updated. It now highlights your credit balance at the top, and displays some featured awards beneath it.
