How is Tesla truly guaranteeing privacy with this process? While they claim that clips won’t be associated with your VIN or profile, can we genuinely trust this?
I can’t help but think of the incident where members of the FSD team reportedly had access to clips from car cameras even after driving sessions ended. They allegedly started a group chat using internal messaging to share “funny” and “cool” clips—some of which were wildly inappropriate, graphic, and a blatant invasion of privacy.
Even before this came to light, Tesla assured us that the clips were entirely anonymous. However, former employees revealed that it was possible to see the locations where these clips were recorded, which could potentially identify the owners. Some employees even expressed discomfort with this practice, describing it as a clear “breach of privacy.”
I just think Tesla needs to be more transparent with us about how they’re using this data collected from millions of people. Video clips alone felt like they should have been handled with extreme care, but the inclusion of audio clips raises even more concerns(personally). It makes me want to understand exactly how this data is being used and safeguarded.
