I have to admit- I wondered what FSD would do in that exact scenario back when they called it Telsa Vision. Personally I am not too worried about it as I'm on good terms with all the coyotes in my area.
For anyone that is curious the YouTuber Futuraza (Brian) addressed this and dug up an article where actual PEOPLE did the same thing into a mural somewhere. I haven't researched it myself so who knows. I could see that happening.
Also- the 'fog' that was smoke did give LIDAR an edge it would not have had it been real fog (from what I've read). Still, no reason to be going 40+ MPH into walls of water, fog, smoke or murals.
He must be loving and hating all the hubbub about his video.
Oh, and he pointed out that no one sponsored the video, he asked to borrow a LIDAR car. No $$ for the video.

For all the flaws in testing, I'd like to point out something to the 'lidar can drive in this' guys: Who wants to be on the road in a lidar car if the human drivers around them cannot even see in the same conditions? You know those humans are driving anyway, some of them. Sun glare, for example. In Colorado near Denver they actually shut down I-70 routinely when the sun is at a certain angle to the road.

Right? There are times when NO ONE or no thing should be driving. I suppose an ambulance or other emergency vehicles might wanna move in all conditions. Same goes for snow / ice in the mountains.
